Pippa Passes to Booneville

Boo to Kentucky's many hills. Today was quite painful. We climbed over 12,000 feet in all. Team Mediocre's morale was strugg-ling. We left Pippa Passes at 9:30 and got to lunch around noon. We ate at some convenience store along the way (and Robin was upset they didn't make her sandwich with wheat bread). We continued on our way and finished the final 40 grueling miles, to a warm reception at the Holy Family Catholic Church. We had a fantastic spaghetti dinner and chatted it up with the Sisters and Don, a local member of the congregation. Afterwards, we had a chain-lubing party. Woo-hoo. We're ready for some sleeeeep.

  • It was good to hear news from the "group"! There are those of us who check on your progress every day. Keep those chins up! Before long you all will be rolling through the flatlands of the midwest and will wish for some mountain scenery! Know that we all are proud of you all! And about Robin's secret wish- I think she wants to be the first one to "swim" in The Mississippi and The Pacific! Guys, I know you can make that happen! The best to each and all. Keep smiling!

  • So, WSLS TV here in Roanoke wants to put you guys on their news but need pictures.

Please e mail some pictures to me along with any news (david@uptime4u.com).

Also Lana and I want a picture of Joe with the new haircut for the refrigerator and perhaps to use for rodent control.

  • If Tyler is able to get you guys on the front page of the Fincastle Herald shouldn't Terence be able to do the same with the New York Times?

Still waiting for the pic of joe with the new hair.

We are proud of you all.

    Keep the faith.

  • It's not exactly as prestigious as the New York Times, David, but Doug Keith (aka Young Pilgrim) wrote an article about Penn Ride that was printed in the Long Island Press a few weeks ago as a matter of fact. And I've been kicking around the idea of writing an article and sending it in to the RVC Herald -definetly not as prestigious as the NYT! It might cut into my sitting around time though, so we'll see.
Keep truckin' Penn Riders...good luck exploring the infinite abyss that is the midwest!
